On our help page you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions, practical tips and tricks and what you can do if something doesn’t go quite right. After all, who wants to spend ages looking for solutions when the slopes are calling?

General information about ski rental

You can hire a wide range of equipment for snow sports from us: skis, ski boots, poles, snowboards, cross-country skis (classic & skating), toboggans and helmets. We also offer accessories such as ski goggles, hats, ski socks and gloves for sale.

Yes, we offer discounted prices per person for groups of 15 or more. Please contact us at least 3 days in advance by e-mail to request the offer.

Wahle Ski Hire has two locations at the entrance to the Winterberg ski lift carousel, at entrance P6 – Rauher Busch chairlift, lift no. 12

Simply use the Google Maps link to navigate directly to us.

The lift entrance is within walking distance of our 2 locations. From location 1 to the lift it is approx. 2-3 minutes on foot, from location 2 only about 1 minute on foot.

Both locations are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the season. Location 2 (Remmeswiese 8) offers continuous opening hours on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. during floodlit evenings.

The best way to contact us is by email at info@skiverleih-wahle.de. Please note that we can only answer emails and inquiries in the evening, as we are on site for our customers in the rental shops during the day to provide them with the best possible equipment. Otherwise, please visit us in person.

Yes, free parking is available for our customers at location 1. Parking is also available at location 2 for a fee. In addition, the free parking lot P6 is within 1 minute walking distance.

Rent & return

Our ski sets include ski boots, a pair of skis and a pair of poles. The snowboard set includes the board and a pair of soft boots. Helmets are available to hire separately.

We accept cash and card payments. Both debit and credit cards can be used. Contactless payment is also possible with us.

Yes, in addition to the payment, you will also need a valid identification document (e.g. identity card, passport or driving license) for the rental, on which your name and address are stored. We will make a copy of your ID document for the rental contract, which serves as security. This enables us to process your rental quickly and easily. We will return the copy of your ID when you return all the equipment.

As a rule, no deposit is required. A deposit is only required for the rental of individual items (only shoes or only poles).

The equipment must be returned to the location where it was rented by 5 p.m. at the latest on the last day of rental. Equipment rented for floodlighting must be returned by 10:30 p.m. at location 2.

In principle, the equipment must be returned on the last day of hire. An extension is possible, but must be requested in advance. If the equipment is returned late, an additional payment will be due. We recommend renting the equipment for several days, as the price per day is cheaper for longer rentals.

In principle, each hirer is liable for the equipment. Damaged equipment must be replaced at its current value, as must lost equipment. We will issue a receipt which can be submitted to the liability insurance company. If lost goods that have already been paid for turn up, we will refund the amount.

Reservation at location 1

To make sure that your desired equipment is available, we recommend booking at least 3 to 5 days in advance. It can fill up quickly, especially at weekends and in the high season – so it’s better to be early!

You are welcome to email us with any changes to your reservation. If you would like to make a reservation for more people, please use our reservation form again. We are also happy to make changes at short notice when you are in our rental shop.

It’s a pity, but no problem! You can cancel your reservation at any time. Just send us an e-mail to info@skiverleih-wahle.de with your name and the date of the reservation and we will cancel it for you. There is no charge for this.

You can collect your equipment from location 1 – Remmeswiese 15 by 11 a.m. on the date you have chosen. If you have selected the option “Pick up the day before”, your equipment will be ready for you at the time you have chosen.

Yes, you can safely store your rented equipment with us overnight. At location 1 we offer free ski depots with boot drying. Heated ski depot lockers are available at location 2, which you can use for a fee. Your equipment will be dried in them and ready for the next day on the slopes.

Equipment

Our trained staff will select the right equipment based on your experience and skiing ability. Simply let us know how familiar you are with skiing or snowboarding and we’ll make sure you get the best equipment. If, contrary to expectations, the equipment does not fit, you can of course exchange it for a different size or type.

Yes, we offer special equipment for children and beginners. For children, we have shorter ski and snowboard lengths as well as suitable children’s helmets. Beginners can choose from a selection of high-quality all-round carvers and beginner boards, which make it easier to start skiing or snowboarding and enable quick success.

Yes, we also hire out individual items of equipment such as ski boots and helmets. So you can hire these separately as required.

Naturally! A well-fitting ski boot is crucial. Our trained staff will be happy to help you try on your boots to make sure they fit perfectly.

Yes, we make sure that our equipment is always in perfect condition. All rented skis and boards are freshly waxed in the morning. We also carefully check and prepare all equipment before the start of the season.

Yes, with pleasure! We can also wax your own skis or board. You can also borrow our tools for binding adjustments or small repairs to maintain your equipment yourself.

Why should I take a photo of my borrowed equipment?

There are thousands of people out and about in the ski area, and it often happens that equipment gets mixed up on ski racks. A photo of your borrowed equipment will help you to ensure that you can find your equipment again and that it is not someone else’s.

Yes, you can buy ski goggles, gloves, ski socks and hats from us. For protectors and winter clothing, we recommend visiting specialist stores in Winterberg.

Each loan process is linked to a return slip. The return slip has the same registration number as the rental contract, which remains with us. This helps us to check that the equipment has been returned in full. We need the receipt to determine the process. You should have the return slip ready for a smooth return. If members of a group return their equipment separately, the return slip number is required. A photo of the receipt is particularly useful here.

Your height is crucial for choosing the right ski or snowboard length to ensure optimal skiing performance. Body weight also plays a role with skis, as the ski bindings need to be adjusted precisely to your weight and skiing ability. This is important so that the binding releases correctly in the event of a fall and injuries are avoided. Our trained staff will use this information to determine the right equipment for your skiing ability and ensure that you are safe and comfortable on the slopes.
